What is Balance sheet?
Finance & accounting. A plain-English definition for Australian business owners.
The balance sheet is a snapshot of a business's assets, liabilities, and equity at a point in time.
It shows what the business owns, what it owes, and the net position. Key balance sheet metrics include working capital, debt-to-equity ratio, and current ratio. For SMEs, balance sheet review is typically monthly; for owner-managed businesses with stable financing, quarterly is often sufficient.
In a connected back office this sits with the Finance hub, where Valont runs bookkeeping, managed payroll and bas & tax compliance for Australian SMEs as one team. The full definition set is on the glossary.
