What is Business advisory?
Category-defining vocabulary. A plain-English definition for Australian business owners.
Business advisory is the ongoing service of helping an owner make better commercial decisions: interpreting the numbers, pressure-testing plans, flagging risks and opportunities.
It is distinct from compliance work (getting the BAS lodged) and from project consulting (fixing one defined problem). In a connected back office, advisory sits on top of the operational functions: because the same team runs the books, payroll and systems, the advice is grounded in live data rather than a quarterly PDF.
In a connected back office this sits with the Finance hub, where Valont runs bookkeeping, managed payroll and bas & tax compliance for Australian SMEs as one team. The full definition set is on the glossary.
