What is Food Standards Code?
Industry-specific compliance. A plain-English definition for Australian business owners.
The Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code is the joint Australian and New Zealand regulatory framework for food safety, labelling, and composition.
Enforcement is by state and territory food authorities. Food businesses (including hospitality) must comply with relevant standards covering food safety practices, premises and equipment, transport and storage, allergen management, and labelling.
In a connected back office this sits with the Finance hub, where Valont runs bookkeeping, managed payroll and bas & tax compliance for Australian SMEs as one team. The full definition set is on the glossary.
