Vocational Education Teaching jobs in Sale
Vocational Education Teaching in Sale involves the same work as it does anywhere in Australia, but who employs you, and under which registration or clearance, is local. Sale's largest employing industries are Health care and social assistance, Public administration and safety and Retail trade, which shapes both where the work is and how steady it tends to be. Licensing is set by Victoria, not nationally — the requirements below are the ones that apply here.

Licensing
Licensing for vocational education teaching in VIC
There is no teacher registration for VET. No state teacher regulatory authority — not QCT, NESA, VIT, TRBWA, TRB SA, the Tasmanian board, ACT TQI or TRB NT — registers vocational education teachers. Instead, the requirement sits on the RTO under the Standards for Registered Training Organisations, enforced by ASQA nationally and by the Victorian and Western Australian state regulators for providers registered with them. Under those standards a person must hold TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its listed equivalents, or TAE50122 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training, to deliver and assess without direction; a person actively working towards the credential has two years to complete it while working under the direction of a fully credentialed trainer. Where you teach students under 18 — very common in VET in Schools, school-based apprenticeships and youth programs — you must also hold the child-related clearance issued in your state or territory.
- Victoria
- No teacher registration applies — VIT does not register VET trainers. Victorian-registered RTOs are regulated by the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) rather than ASQA where they operate only in Victoria. A Working with Children Clearance from Working with Children Check Victoria is required for teaching students under 18.
Licensing rules change. Confirm with the regulator named above before quoting or contracting — this page is a starting point, not advice.

Who hires in vocational education teaching in Sale
RAAF Base East Sale, with roughly 700 personnel, hosts the School of Air Warfare, Officers' Training School, No. 32 Squadron and the Roulettes, giving Wellington Shire a defence employment share almost no other Victorian region has. Esso's Longford plants process Bass Strait oil and gas, though declining output is shifting work toward decommissioning and Gippsland offshore wind.
Central Gippsland Health Service, Department of Defence (RAAF Base East Sale), Wellington Shire Council and Esso Australia (Longford Gas Plants) are among the largest employers in Sale. Most people working in vocational education teaching here, though, are hired by small and mid-sized businesses rather than by the names everyone recognises — which is why so many local vacancies never reach a big job board.
Largest employing industries
46,551 people (Wellington Shire Council area (Local Government Area, covering Sale, Maffra, Yarram and Heyfield), ABS Estimated Resident Population at 30 June 2025 (preliminary). The Sale urban centre itself is far smaller.).
