What is Fair Work Commission?
Payroll & people. A plain-English definition for Australian business owners.
The Fair Work Commission (FWC) is Australia's national workplace relations tribunal.
It sets the National Minimum Wage, makes and varies Modern Awards, resolves unfair dismissal claims, approves enterprise agreements, and adjudicates a range of workplace disputes. The FWC's annual wage review (typically delivered in early June, effective 1 July) sets minimum wage and Award rate increases.
In a connected back office this sits with the People hub, where Valont runs award compliance, hr & ir advisory and employer advice line for Australian SMEs as one team. The full definition set is on the glossary.
