What is Personal/carer's leave?

Payroll & people. A plain-English definition for Australian business owners.

Personal/carer's leave (also "sick leave") is the NES entitlement to 10 days' paid leave per year for personal illness or to care for an immediate family or household member.

The entitlement accrues progressively and rolls over year-to-year. Pro-rata calculations for part-time employees are based on ordinary hours.

In a connected back office this sits with the People hub, where Valont runs award compliance, hr & ir advisory and employer advice line for Australian SMEs as one team. The full definition set is on the glossary.
