What is RDO (rostered day off)?

Payroll & people. A plain-English definition for Australian business owners.

An RDO is a scheduled paid day off accrued under certain Awards (notably the Building & Construction Award) where employees work additional hours during the cycle to accrue the day.

RDO administration requires accurate accrual tracking per employee and careful scheduling around project deadlines. Errors here are a common payroll issue in trades and construction.

In a connected back office this sits with the People hub, where Valont runs award compliance, hr & ir advisory and employer advice line for Australian SMEs as one team. The full definition set is on the glossary.
